Chaka's MMM Sauce & Giveaway

Chaka's MMM Sauce

Our house is not HUGE on marinating or grilling, especially in the winter. But we do use A1 a lot. So I was very anxious and thrilled to get this set of sauces!
In a small California kitchen, using an old family recipe, Chaka created his now famous marinade for family & friends. Rave reviews and encouragement immediately began pouring in so Chaka started bottling his unique product.
Now “CHAKA’S” MMM Sauce is shipped across the country to a fast growing group of customers affectionately named “chaka-holics”. What's our secret? It's simple. We use only the highest quality ingredients. You can taste the difference in your first bite.

• use with meat, poultry, fish, or vegetables!
• Fat Free
• Dairy Free
• FREE SHIPPING in continental US
• #1 Selling Marinade in Northern California and growing!

^^the set of sauces I received^^

Like I said, we don't marinate here, so we've been using this similarly to A1 or Worcestershire sauce. We had a roast one day and I used it on the helping on my plate.

Usually, I AVOID beef at all costs. I eat beef in spaghetti, tacos, deli roast beef and hamburgers from the grill. I usually turn my nose up at oven/crock pot roasts, meatloaf and other uses of beef.

We haven't tried the 'Natural' variety yet, but the Zesty is being used QUICKLY. With Chaka's MMM Zesty sauce, I ate 3 HUGE helpings of the roast and then a few days later, I ate 2 pan-fried hamburgers with Chaka's MMM Sauce.

^^what's left of the Zesty flavor^^

Honestly, it's NOT overly zesty or spicy. The 'heat' level is about the same as taco seasoning or a Beef & Bean frozen burrito. Seriously, I've ate spicier pepperoni than the Zesty sauce.

And I'm NOT saying that's a BAD thing... It's actually a good thing, because if you're having stomach issues, you can STILL eat the zesty flavor and not be paying for it later that night.

What I really like about this sauce is how 'all-natural' it is, and with food allergies and/or sensitivities being pretty much hand in hand with disabilities, this sauce is perfect for a disabled person's diet. There's NO sugar, so diabetics can enjoy it. There's no fat, so those on a weight-watching diet can use this, and those who are lactose intolerant can eat it as well.

The ONLY problems I see with a disabled person using this sauce is the actual OPENING of the bottles. The safety seals on these bottles can be tough to open. I had to get Mama Melissa to open the bottle for me to use. Also, and I haven't figured out WHY, the 'original/Natural' flavor is in a glass jar, while the Zesty flavor is in a plastic jar. Disabled people will want to use more caution when using the glass jar.

Chaka's MMM Sauces are available from Chaka's website. They offer free shipping to the Continental US.

Chaka thinks you'll love his sauces SO much, he's giving a set away!!!

I love these sauces. They are very flavorful and bring out the natural flavors in the foods it's used on.

I ordered this for our older cat, Morris. He's not really an 'outdoor' cat anymore, but it was really cute and I figured when summer DOES roll around again, if he wanders off, he can be returned.

However, I ended up NOT putting this on Morris, because it is more geared towards dogs.

^^closeup of the tag I received -- address pixelated for privacy^^

A few things made me NOT actually put this on Morris.
1. THE CLASS -- Morris is a FELINE, not canine
2. THE SEX -- Morris is a BOY, not a girl.
3. THE MATERIAL -- The tag is made of PLASTIC, not the aluminum as claimed.

I don't feel as if this would actually hold up on a pet that does go out a lot, especially if the pet lives near a heavily wooded area.

These are no longer available on Amazon.

These are cute as a novelty or even as a keyring for a proud furmama/furdaddy, but I wouldn't trust them to stay intact if my pet ever DID get lost outside.

Harvest Snaps

Harvest Snaps

I was VERY lucky to have received 4 bags of these snacks for free from Harvest Snaps.

Good-for-you and great taste can be hard to come by these days, but for us they’re like two peas in a pod. Inside every bag of Harvest Snaps we combine taste, quality and simplicity. Sprinkle that with the passion we have for fresh, natural ingredients, and you get one "snaptastic" snack.
When it comes to "what’s inside" Harvest Snaps, it all starts with the clean flavors and essential nutrients Mother Nature intended. Our Snapea Crisps are made with all-natural peas– 70%* to be exact – while our Lentil Snaps come packed with 65% authentic lentils and their powerful combination of nutrients.
With each handful (yes we said handful) your body will soak up Vitamin B, calcium, iron, folate, potassium and dietary fiber. Finish that off with a high level of protein and fiber and you’re sure to feel satisfied without feeling sluggish. Not to mention, these snappy little snacks are gluten-free.
Sadly, not a ONE of the GROUP photos I took of these came out decently, so we will have to make due with individual photos. I had my PCA/Adoptive mom 'Mama Melissa' help me with the tasting.

This was the first bag we opened, and Mama Melissa promptly took. This was a mixed bag of baked green pea and lentil snaps. You really couldn't taste the salt on these, but the caramel flavor burst through. They weren't overly sweet though. Yummy. These were Mama Melissa's favorite flavor. I wasn't too fond of them.

These are strictly baked green pea snaps. The term 'Lightly Salted' is a bit misleading on these. You tasted the salt MORE than the Salted Caramel flavor, but nowhere near as salty as a typical potato chip. I'd say the salt was on level with a plain Pringles chip. I found these still very tasty, however Mama Melissa wasn't sold on this flavor.

This flavor is made from strictly lentil bean snaps, which are baked. Almost tasted like pizza or spaghetti sauce. Not too heavy on the salt, either. These were more puffy/airy than the Lightly Salted flavor, but still crunchy. Mama Melissa said they was okay, which I agreed with.

Another mixed bag of green pea and lentil bean snaps. You can really taste the toffee flavoring, yet the coffee flavor is there. The coffee flavoring is more of an 'instant coffee powder' flavoring, so think of eating dry instant coffee. However, the toffee flavoring gives it enough sweetness, so it doesn't have a bitter taste. I think these were my favorite flavor of the set. Mama Melissa seemed to like them, but she wasn't completely sold on the 'instant coffee grounds' flavoring.

Unfortunately, the one flavor I was HOPING we would be able to try, the Brown Sugar & Cinnamon flavor was one we did not receive. Boo.

As stated above, The lentil snaps have a more 'puffy' texture than the snapea crisps. A good way to compare the textures would be Jax Cheese Puffs to the crunchy Cheetos.

Holiday Snaps are available in three different flavors
• Salted Caramel
• Coffee Toffee
• Brown Sugar & Cinnamon

Harvest Snaps Snapea Crisps are available in four different flavors
• Lightly Salted
• Caesar
• Black Pepper
• Wasabi Ranch

Harvest Snaps Lentil Snaps are available in two flavors
• Tomato Basil
• Onion Thyme

Harvest Snaps can be found at most major retailers, like Walmart, Target, ShopRite and the Kroger family of stores. Click on Find 'Em to find the nearest retailer near you!

But... HOLD ON!! Harvest Snaps wants to give one lucky winner their own pack of snacks for the Holiday Season!! You can enter below!

Harvest Snaps giveaway

I love these snacks. They are light, flavorful and I don't feel guilty if I overindulge, since they are vegetable-based.

We now have two little kitties in our house, both stray rescues. There's Morris, who looks like the mascot from 9 Lives and who I like to nickname 'Mr. Cranky McSassyPants,' and Sammy, who thinks he's the king of the house.

A few months ago, Sammy had a little issue that required him to stay a few nights at the vet's office. Because the vet cannot afford litter boxes for all the cats, they just put newspaper down and change that when needed. Even though it was only a 3-night stay, Sammy became accustomed to going on the newspaper, and when he returned home, he started urinating all over the house.

The other day, Sammy went in one of the living room chairs. We couldn't just remove the cushion from the chair frame, so out came the pet spray after scrubbing the urine out the best we could.

^^what I received^^

The spray took the scent completely OUT of the chair cushion. It left a light citrusy/lemony smell to the cushion, and even after it dried, the scent was still gone. It's not like the spray 'masked' the scent while wet, but returned when dry.

As I said, we have 2 cats. Morris is our upstairs cat and while he doesn't have accidents, after a while, his litter box does get an ammonia scent to it, even though we clean it multiple times a day. We tried the spray on his litter box and the ammonia scent has completely vanished.

Disabled people should have no issues using this spray. If you can work a spray bottle like 409 or Windex, you will have NO problems using this bottle. The spray itself has no chemical scent to it, so anyone with a breathing issue won't have any issues either.

You can buy this product from Amazon for $14.99.

This product works as promised. It's all-natural and has a pleasant scent.

App Review -- Camera51

I can't exactly remember how I came to learn about Camera51. I really want to say it was from Joe Hindy and the crew over at Android Authority, but I COULD be mistaken.

Camera51 automatically detects and analyzes faces, scenes, objects and lines and guides you to the perfect frame in every click.
Camera51 invites you to start taking photos like a professional. It utilizes photography principles used by professional photographers and artists and applies this vast knowledge base in a fun and intuitive interface.
All you have to do is place the smartphone icon in the "Aim-Box" and BAM! you've got yourself a photo that looks like a million bucks.

• Auto framing / auto composition technology: Identifies and automatically selects the main objects and lines of the photo to determine real time framing guidance.
• Perfect selfie: snap the ultimate selfie whether by yourself or in a group with the front-facing camera.
• Manual object selection: Users have the option to manually select an object by just tapping the screen, to determine framing guidance, focus, and exposure.
• Multi object selection: Allows users to select up to three different objects of interest per photo.
• Peripheral object alert: Enables the app to notify you of prominent objects that may interfere with your frame boundaries.

^^Captures from the the Google Play page^^

Since my actual digital camera eats disposable batteries like crazy, I've been using my Motorola Photon Q phone to take MANY of my blog photos. It has an 8 megapixel camera, whereas my digital camera is a 10 MP camera. To me, I don't see MUCH of a difference between the camera and the phone, regarding picture quality.

Personally, I find that Camera51 takes much clearer and sharper pictures than the pre-installed Motorola Camera. To get a true comparison of the two apps, I took a picture of my Logitech M325 Wireless mouse.

Both of these photos are taken with a Motorola Photon Q phone. The camera is an 8MP camera, stabilized in the same position (using a phone tripod) and unedited with the exception of adding the text and my watermark.

You can see in the Camera51 photo how much clearer and the colors seem richer than the default camera. It also has what I call 'Smart Flash' detection. With Camera51, it did not flash. With the default camera app, it still used a flash, even though the area was well-lit.

What I like the MOST about the Camera51 app is the fact that it has a 'Aim Box' to guide you to where the photo will be the best. It doesn't ALWAYS work the best, but a simple tap on the screen tells the app to refocus the 'aim box' for you. Snap the photo and you're done!

Unlike another camera app I've reviewed, I see NO battery drag with this app. The ONLY negative I see is the app is a bit slow to open, but nothing that would ruin the app experience.

Camera51 is an Android-only app right now, with plans for development on the iOS platform. You can download it for free by going here: Camera51 on Google Play.

Unless you have a kick*ss default camera app, you NEED this app on your phone.
