Grainful Meal Entrees

Grainful Meal Entrees

I love oats. I love oatmeal, oat breads, oat cereals... but never have I thought of eating oats for dinner... especially by combining other vegetables and meats with oats.

But that's exactly what Grainful has done.
Bringing you the goodness of oats for dinner.

At Grainful, we believe in great food. It’s that simple. Our chef-crafted recipes are inspired by bold flavors from around the globe. Each entrĂ©e is made with 100% whole grain steel cut oats, lovingly prepared in individual kettle batches with a mouthwatering blend of all natural ingredients. Now you can enjoy the all health benefits of oats during lunch and dinner!

I was provided with 4 entrees to try and review... Vegetarian Chili, Unstuffed Pepper, Porcini Mushroom Chicken and Andouille Sausage. All these entrees were made with oats in the place of rice or pasta.

^^what I received -- sorry for the blurriness, I suck at photos.^^

I really enjoyed the entrees I have tried. I have one more entree to try. I'm saving it for another cold day. So, let's look at the three entrees I have tried.

A playful twist on the stuffed pepper, our Unstuffed Pepper is inspired by the zesty flavors of the South West. We combined fresh red bell peppers, bold spices and all natural ground turkey meat with the rich texture of our signature 100% whole grain steel cut oats. You’ll love the light kick in this delicious and hearty dish.

This was SO good. It was like I was eating a chopped up stuffed pepper. They were plenty of vegetables and spices to appeal to my tastebuds. The ground turkey tasted JUST like ground beef. This was my 2nd favorite entree and if I hadn't known this was made with oats, I wouldn't have been able to tell by taste. The 'spiciness' level is 2 peppers, but I didn't find it to be all that spicy.

Vegetarian Chili is our take on the classic American staple. Smoky chipotle peppers bring out fiery flavors and are combined with bold chili spices, vegetables, quinoa and three types of beans. All served over our signature 100% whole grain steel cut oats and topped with sharp cheddar cheese. Our chili will keep you warm – even if it’s cold outside!

This was my first time having quinoa... and I can't say I'm a huge fan of quinoa. I just don't like the taste of it. Other than the quinoa, I liked this. It's VERY spicy. Not only does it have your typical beans and bell peppers, it has Chipotle peppers in adobo sauce and two different types of chili powders. If you don't like spicy foods, you may want to steer clear of this one.

Our Porcini Mushroom Chicken was inspired by the rich flavors and cooking techniques of Tuscan cuisine. We slowly simmered delicious porcini mushrooms, Italian herbs and tender white chicken meat with our signature 100% whole grain steel cut oats to create an irresistibly creamy risotto-style entrée. Wholesome comfort food at its best!

I love chicken... absolutely LOVE it. I could eat it daily if I was allowed. This was my favorite entree of the ones I have tried. The flavors meld well together, and the mushrooms were very tender. There is no spiciness to this dish, so if you don't like spicy food, this entree is right up your alley.

Our Andouille Sausage & Oats was inspired by Louisiana’s vibrant Creole cuisine. We combined the bold flavors of traditional Jambalaya with the rich texture of our signature 100% whole grain steel cut oats. We love this hearty, wholesome dish and can’t wait for you to try it!

I haven't actually tried this, simply for the fact that it's 'spiciness' level is 4 peppers, and I can handle spiciness to a certain level. I don't like hot cherry peppers, so I'm not entirely sure I will be able to eat this. I HAVE ate Zatarain's™ Jambalaya as a teenager, and I didn't find it overly spicy, so if the spice level is on par with that, I'll be able to handle it fine. Judging by the photo on the outer box, it DOES look good and I'm looking forward to trying this entree soon.

I really don't see disabled people having ANY issues with these entrees. They are made with all natural ingredients. There are NO added preservatives in any of the entrees. With the exception of the word 'Pecorino,' I can easily pronounce EVERY ingredient in these. The spiciness may trigger some people's stomach issues, but the major problem disabled people may have is opening the packaging.

Right now, Grainful entrees are only available in the Northeastern part of the United States, mainly found at Wegman's™ stores and health/whole food stores. You can go to Grainful.com for more info and to find a store near you.

I thoroughly enjoyed the meals I have tried. I'm looking forward to buying more of these when I get to our local Wegman's™ again.

A HUGE thank you to Emily Eisenhut and the family at Grainful for allowing me to do a review for them.
