TASTY THURSDAY -- Biena Foods

Biena Foods

I usually put the product description here, but since I'm covering two different foods, I'm skipping this.

I love trying new foods. Eating the same old same old can get boring. And I had never had chickpeas, roasted or otherwise, until a Love with Food box a few months back. I was quite excited to get 3 flavors to try and review.

All 3 flavors I received

CINNAMON CRUNCH

This was JUST like eating a cinnamon roll with a crunch to it. Our resident 'cinnamon junkie' Mama Melissa claimed this bag for herself. I did get a handful for tasting purposes, and I really liked them. They weren't overly sweet.
TASTE: 9/10

HABANERO (MEDIUM SPICY)

If these were 'Medium Spicy,' I'd hate to see what hotter would be. To me, this tasted just like VERY hot wings. I could only eat about two handfuls before I just gave them to Mama Melissa, who likes spicy foods.
TASTE: 6/10

SEA SALT

To me, these tasted JUST like salted peanuts, just less hard. Very easy on the teeth. Very yummy, if not a bit dry. I gagged a bit on these.
TASTE: 9.5/10

I like the fact that these don't have the fat content that peanuts have, but I still get the fiber and the protein that peanuts give.

The company was also kind enough to send me some Fusion Jerky to review.

LEMON PEPPER CHICKEN JERKY

While I liked the lemon and pepper flavors, this was by far the toughest and chewiest jerky of the bunch. My teeth were constantly aching after eating this flavor, unless it was a small, bite-size piece. I did like the flavor though. This was my 2nd favorite of the jerkies.
TASTE: 7.75/10

CHIPOTLE LIME BEEF JERKY

LOVED the texture of this jerky; not so keen on the flavor. Again, it was a bit hot for me, and the lime didn't do much to 'cool' it off. But what the flavor ruined, the texture made up for. This jerky practically fell apart and melted in your mouth. Very tender on the teeth and reminded me a LOT of the Big League Chew bubble gum.
TASTE: 8.75/10

ISLAND TERIYAKI PORK JERKY

Mama Melissa and I are not huge fans of Teriyaki flavor, But I liked the way what I THINK was pineapple flavor played with the pork and the Teriyaki flavors. It was like sweet & sour pork put into a jerky form. Was kind of chewy, but not as chewy as the chicken jerky. I'd put the chewiness level closer to the beef jerky than the chicken jerky
TASTE: 8/10

ROSEMARY CITRUS TURKEY JERKY

I actually didn't think I'd like this jerky, because I've never had rosemary before... at least to my knowledge. But I LOVED this. This was my favorite one. The citrusy flavoring was more of an orange-y flavor than lemony or lime-y. It blended AWESOMELY with the rosemary flavor. Chewiness was between the pork and the chicken jerkies. I'm going to have to find a way to buy more of this one.
TASTE: 9.75/10

These come in resealable bags, so you don't have to worry about the jerkies going stale or the chickpeas spilling out all over. Although, it is recommended to either consume or refrigerate the jerkies within 3 days of opening.

Disabled folks may have issues chewing the jerky, if they have difficulties chewing tough meats. The chickpeas aren't really that hard, and will start to 'disintegrate' after a few crunches of the teeth.

Please visit Biena Snacks or Fusion Jerky for more info.

FINAL THOUGHTS
Two healthy snacks that don't skimp on the taste. I feel good munching on these snacks, knowing they won't wreck my diet.

WOULD RECOMMEND: Yes to both
