Last month, I did a review of the 3 Port USB 2.0 USB HUB with Multi-card Reader. But I originally bought this one when I ended up going to a HP Chromebook 11, which did not have a built-in card reader and because sadly, that system was a pain and would not read any cards inserted into the unit or my other USB card reader. This style was recommended to me by an user on the Google Product forums.

For my birthday, I ended up getting an Asus 13" Chromebook, and after using the built-in card reader with a LOT of difficulty, I got this unit out and tried the 3 port hub. And while it does work, I didn't want to have to carry the 3 port hub with me if I took my Chromebook out of the house.

So, this afternoon, I had some pictures I needed to move to the Chromebook from an SD card and the 3 port hub was a bit out of my reach. Since this was right on the desk, I grabbed it, put the card in and plugged it in.

^^Reader 'closed'^^

^^Reader 'open.' Both ends are protected from dirt and debris^^

^^Reader about to be plugged in. 4 GB Sandisk card inserted.^^

It's a plug and play style; no drivers needed. My Chromebook recognized the card right away and there was no problems transferring the photos to the Chromebook.

I do but don't see disabled people having issues with this. The actual use it's intended for, I will say that there will be no issues. There are no moving parts to get caught on. However, Putting the card in, plugging the unit in and removing the unit from the system may be difficult, depending on how shaky the person's hands are. I have moderately good hand control and removing the drive was very hard to do with my Chromebook flat on the desk. I had to turn the Chromebook so the side was hanging off the desk a bit in order to grab the item securely and pull.

This is available from eBay seller zydistro for $2.85 and FREE shipping. There ARE other colors available besides blue. (I'm sure there are other sellers with the same item; zydistro is the seller I purchased mine from)

Very handy to have around if your system doesn't have any SD slots or they are hard to get to.
