Since 1935, Evanger's Dog & Cat Food Company, Inc. has been the finest natural pet food company in the United States. Our founder, Fred Evanger, bred, exhibited, and championed his Great Danes in international kennel clubs. He was a fervent believer that his dogs' health and the health of their offspring were dependent on wholesome, nutritious food, and strongly advocated that this was the key to his success in the show ring. Mr. Evanger built a canning factory at his kennels so that he could make a quality pet food, free of harmful additives or preservatives;, that was superior enough for his champions. Over 76 years later, we know that Fred Evanger was a man ahead of his time.As you know, we have a new pup in the house, Chase. We think he's either a Ratcha (Rat Terrier-Chihuahua mix) or a Minchi/Chipin (Chihuahua-Mini Doberman Pinscher). Our Vet thinks Ratcha, but Mama Melissa and I lean more the Chipin.
And he is SPOILED. ROTTEN.
I'm always on the lookout for new things for him to try, but I also want to keep things as all natural as possible, as per our vet's directions. (It doesn't help we have two people here CONSTANTLY feeding him table scraps, even AFTER the vet said not to, but I digress...)
So, I was extremely excited when I received a box of Evanger's Dog food for Chase to try!
^^What I Received^^
Let's take a look at what's inside...
Whitefish and Sweet Potato
Nutritionally Complete & Balanced: Evanger's Grain Free Whitefish and Sweet Potato Dry Dog Food meets the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO dog food nutrient profiles for ALL Life Stages.
I don't know many dogs that like fish; that's mainly a cat thing. But Chase seemed to like this. He ate it all through the course of a day. I don't know if it was the whitefish or the sweet potato taste he liked more.
Chicken and Brown Rice
Made with Evanger's same superior, high quality nutrition, this is the perfect compliment to our canned entrees.
I'd say this was Chase's favorite of the dry foods. This bag was GONE within half a day, if not sooner. People try to say 'Oh, Chase doesn't LIKE chicken.' But that seems to be wrong, since he gobbled this up in no time.
Pheasant and Brown Rice
This chicken-free dinner is a great option for dogs with chicken allergies. This is the perfect compliment to our 100% game meat supplements.
And this was the one Chase HATED... which is odd, because when we opened the box, Chase seemed OBSESSED with this package. But he took 2-3 bites from the bowl and walked away. We ended up throwing the little baggie away.
Braised Beef Chunks with gravy and veggies
A hearty dinner of tender chunks of beef with market fresh vegetables of peas and carrots together with nutritious gravy.
When Chase was 'new' to us, Grandma bought a variety box of Cesar wet food. If I remember correctly it was a Beef variety pack, and one of the flavors was (I think) Beef Stew with Peas & Carrots. Chase would NOT eat that flavor... at all. But he devoured this one. He happily ate all the veggies.
Hunk of Beef au jus
Premium tender 100% beef roast cooked in its own juices serves up a meaty supplement.
No surprise Chase loved this one. All this is, is as it reads; chunks of beef in a broth-like juice. We started out giving him half a can, to see if he liked it. He licked his bowl clean, then BEGGED for the rest of the can!
Slow Cooked Turkey Stew
A grain free stew with diced meat and farm fresh vegetables are simmered in gravy for a delectable dinner.
This was the main one I was very skeptical on. Between people claiming Chase 'doesn't like turkey' and turning his nose up at the Cesar Beef Stew, I was sure this would be the one he wouldn't eat...
But he SHOCKED me. He ate every bit of it and licked the bowl clean again. We gave him the entire can of the stew and he ate half of it in one sitting!
Only problem I see disabled people having with these is the packaging. The cans are pop-top cans, and depending of the disability, a disabled person may need help pulling these open. The dry food comes in bags similar to snack bags, so scissors may be needed to open them.
These are available from Evanger's Pet Food website or some pet stores. They also produce cat food, ferret food, and treats. Please visit their website to find a store near you.
All natural foods for pets, that tastes yummy, yet still packs the nutrients a dog needs... it's a win-win!
