The finest of times deserve the finest in snack items. Premium taste and unforgettable memories are “in the bag” with TGI Fridays snacks.I have never been to a TGIFridays restaurant in my life. They were always out of driving distance for my family. I've always heard such great things about their food, so when I had the chance to review some of their snacks, I leaped at the chance.
Since the brand crossed over to the snack chip aisle in 2000, the TGI Fridays snack line has become a consumer favorite in grocery, vending and convenience channels, providing premium snack options that parallel the exciting flavor combinations on Fridays menus.
I was sent 5 bags of snacks for review. Let's have a look at what I received.
SWEET POTATO SKINS
Taste the sweeter side of Fridays with our irresistible sweet potato skins! Made from real sweet potatoes, these skins deliver an authentic sweet and savory flavor that will keep you coming back for more.
As a child, I loved the Tato Skins brand of snacks by Keebler, but they disappeared from the store shelves in the 1990s. Apparently, The Keebler elves sold them to the Poore Brothers, who now market them as T.G.I. Friday's Potato Skins Snack Chips. These particular chips are made from sweet potatoes, instead of regular potatoes.
We didn’t really taste ANYTHING but the salt on these, although I could detect the sweet potato taste. What I liked about these is they were not as greasy as regular potato chips/crisps. The greasiness was on par with a Pringles chip, but these also seem to be baked instead of fried as well.
HAPPY HOUR SNACK MIXES
It’s sweet and spice with everything nice in this craveable blend of butter toffee peanuts, wasabi peas, roasted almonds, pecans, cashews, rice crackers, cajun corn sticks, and honey mustard pretzels. Make any hour a Happy Hour.
This was really good. Not overly sweet, but not overly spicy either. This was my first time having wasabi peas, and I did like them; however, they had a nice afterburn to them. I liked the way the sweetness of the nuts blended with the spiciness to create a awesome blend of flavor.
Spice up your snack time with this irresistible blend of smoked almonds, sesame sticks, cajun
corn sticks, pumpkin seeds and peanuts all covered in a mouth-watering sriracha ranch seasoning. Make any hour a Happy Hour.
This one was a hot one. I've had things with sriracha before, and those things were nowhere near as hot at this mix. Not saying it's a bad thing though. My favorite ingredient was the pumpkin seeds. They worked with the seasonings QUITE nicely. Overall, It was a bit hot for my tastebuds, but Mama Melissa really liked this one.
Our Cheddar Bacon Snack Mix is a savory combination of cheese crackers, pretzels, pumpkin seeds, and cajun corn sticks all seasoned to perfection using an irresistible cheddar and bacon flavor. Make any hour a Happy Hour.
Reminded me a LOT of a bacon cheeseburger, with a kick of spice. The 'cheese crackers' were just Cheez-Its, so it was kind of a shock to see them in the mix. I felt like I was eating one of TGIFridays cheeseburgers while eating this.
This sweet and savory blend of smoked almonds, sesame sticks, cajun corn sticks, pumpkin seeds and peanuts is seasoned with a spicy, tangy, yet sweet barbeque flavor. Make any hour a Happy Hour.
I don't taste too much barbecue in this mix. I just taste the spiciness of the seasoning. I would have liked more of a barbecue flavor on this. But I do like the flavor of this.
The main problem I see with these snacks (minus any chewing issues) are the bags themselves. They are zip bags, to keep the snack fresh, and they can be difficult to reopen after being sealed.
This is available from most retailers where snack foods are sold.
Very tasty snacks. A great way to get your TGIFridays fix without going to the restaurant.
