ADMIN POST: Verizon strikes again

And we're at it again!

My speeds are being ABYSMAL... AGAIN. It's been this way for the past 3-4 days. Seems like every time it rains, I have connectivity issues. I pay for the 1.1-3 Mbps tier and I've only been clocking 400-950 Kbps downstream. My upstream rate is my normal speed (444 Kbps).

We KNOW the problem is on my end this time. According to Verizon's line tests, it's a problem with the wiring in/around the house, so I have a tech call scheduled for this coming Monday, 1/4/16, between 11 am and 2 pm. HOPEFULLY, this will fix all the problems I have.

I wish there were different providers in this area, but my only options are Verizon, Earthlink (who would rely on Verizon's wires anyway) or HughesNet/satellite internet, which I can't have due to data caps and not being allowed to have the equipment here. Cable internet is NOT available here. Something about if WE have cable TV/Internet, the people in the valley won't have it, and if the ones in the valley have it, WE on the top of the hill don't.

It makes NO sense, considering where I lived in PA, we were 25 miles from the 'home office.' Here, we're +/- 9 miles from the closest provider and we can't get it. *grumble*

Honestly though? I think I'd rather deal with the price gouging of Time Warner or even Comcast. At least that's only once a month compared to EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. It rains.

Due to this, there will be no new posts made until next week. I am EXTREMELY sorry about this. I WANT to post for you guys, but Verizon is making this impossible!!
