Munchpak January 2016

What is MunchPak?

MunchPak is an assortment of the best snacks from around the world delivered to your home, dorm room, or office as often as you would like.
So, it's the fifth month of Munchpak, and again, I did something different this month. I typed this up the DAY we got the box, so I could taste them as I wrote the review. Hence why this review is on time!

As always, I told Mama Melissa I would do a written review on this, so I'm going in the order she unboxed the MunchPak in. FYI, We got the FamilyPak, which has at least 20 snacks.

Memories Dates “TEASHOP”
These treats are made from Dates. Delicious and wholesome
Country: Turkey

Fig Newtons cookies with more of a biscuit outside than a pastry. Nice flavor to them, with none of the ‘grit’ traditional Fig Newtons have.
TASTE: 8.5/10

Yoyo Taffy Bites
A real working Yo-Yo with small chewy candies that come in assorted flavors inside!
Country: United States

Little bits of soft taffy inside an actual working yoyo. I’m not one for taffy and I never could get a yoyo to work for me. I took one little bit for tasting purposes and Mama Melissa took the rest.
TASTE: 3/10

El Super Leon Churritos
These crunchy snacks are made from thin corn sticks that come with a yummy salsa pack and a great treat anytime of the day.
Country: Mexico

Tastes like a cross between a corn chip and a crunchy breadstick. Very interesting. We didn’t use the salsa package that this came with, simply because it would have been WAY too messy for the ‘tasting station.’ A little hard on my teeth.
TASTE: 6/10

Oishi Potato Fries - Ketchup Flavor
Delicious potato sticks in the shape of french fries. These come in a ketchup flavor.
Country: Philippines

Tastes EXACTLY like French fries dipped in ketchup. LOVED these. The ‘fries’ have the texture of Andy Capp’s fries snack, and they are VERY heavy on the ketchup flavor, even heavier than the Herr’s Ketchup chips we had previously and the actual chips that I’ll talk about later on. One of my favorites of this box.
TASTE: 10/10

Mike and Ike Zours
These are the American Mike & Ike Zours and are a real blast of truly fruity sourness in every bite
Country: United States

I usually like Mike & Ike candies, but these were disgusting. I tried what seemed to be the sour Blue Raspberry, and it tasted JUST like children’s grape cough/cold medicine. I was NOT impressed.
TASTE: 2/10

Ozmo Fun Chocolate Pop
Adorably fun little characters printed in chocolate creating a delicious chocolate lollipop.
Country: Turkey

Another nasty treat. The chocolate tasted like the cheap, imitation chocolate you get in a Palmers chocolate heart or bunny… which I hate. It was small, so thankfully, there wasn’t much to share. I’d prefer American chocolate, or even British chocolate to this, but it’s still edible.
TASTE: 4/10

Sherbet Fountain
Barrat Sherbet Fountains are powdered Sherbet candy that is sold in a yellow plastic tube with red lettering on the label. The package includes a stick which is made of licorice and made for dipping.
Country: United Kingdom

I despise black licorice. Absolutely HATE it. Mama Melissa didn’t tell me what it was when she gave me a sample, then proceeded to laugh hysterically when I realized what it was. The powder reminded us of crushed Smarties.
TASTE: 1.5/10

Covered Bridge Ketchup potato chips
Rich and bold old fashioned kettle style potato chips seasoned with the tangy and super delicious flavor of ketchup.
Country: Canada

Kind of light on the ketchup flavor, but still detectable. I think the Herr’s variety has more flavor than these chips, but not as much as the Potato fries from above. I’d say the texture of these chips are on par with Wise brand chips, which I find a bit too crunchy for my gums. I prefer Pringles or Lay’s brand.
TASTE: 8/10

Kiddie Mix
Yummy fruit flavored hard candies with even yummier fruit filling. These are a real treat whenever you pop one in your mouth.
Country: United Kingdom

First repeat in this box. We had these in November 2015’s box. Hard candies with what seemed to be fruit juice in the middle. I liked these a lot. Not overly sweet, and the fruit juice was a nice surprise.
TASTE: 9/10

Hi-Chew Cherry flavor
These are so yummy! Deliciously juicy, chewy and scrumptious Hi-Chews in mouth-watering cherry flavor.
Country: Japan

Second repeat of the box. ‘Fake Cherry’ flavor abounds in these chewy candies, which have a texture somewhere between caramels and Starburst candies. The cherry flavor was EXACTLY like a cherry lollipop or a LifeSaver in cherry flavor. I really liked these, better than the other flavors I’ve had.
TASTE: 9.5/10

Pizza Pretz
Crunchy Glico pretzel sticks covered in awesome pizza flavor.
Country: Thailand

Reminds me of Hot Pockets Pepperoni Pizza or Stouffer’s French Bread pizza. Very crunchy, but not hard on the teeth. One of my faves of this month’s box.
TASTE: 9.75/10

Antonelli Croissant Creme Cacao
Light, dreamy and doughy croissants baked to perfection and filled with smooth, rich cocoa cream.
Country: Italy

Take a chocolate cream-filled doughnuts and put the chocolate cream in a croissant. Very flaky, very tender and very sweet. I love croissants, so this was another favorite.
TASTE: 9/10

Strawberry Rip Rolls
Delicious and super sour sugar covered sour licorice strips.
Country: United States

MUCH better than the black licorice above. The Strawberry flavor was right on the mark; not light, but not oversaturated either. Kind of sweet, but yet has a sour kick to it. We had a similar one in a Munchpak we received before I started this site. I liked this. Very chewy, but not hard on the teeth.
TASTE: 8.75/10

Ozmo Hoxi Poxi
Savory biscuit cookie sticks coated in milk chocolate with delicious milky cream.
Country: Turkey

Turkish Pocky. If you’ve ever had traditional Pocky, You know what this tastes like. The chocolate does seem to be a bit creamier that the chocolate on the traditional Pocky.
TASTE: 9.5/10

Poker Vaniglia Wafer
These delicious wafer snacks are yummy and taste like vanilla. Great for a treat anytime!
Country: Italy

Very soft and easy on the teeth, and abundant with Vanilla flavor. A thinner version of the Voortman Vanilla Wafers we have here in America. One word: YUMMY.
TASTE: 10/10

Eiffel Bon Bons Strawberry
Chewy Fruity and deliciously tasty ball shaped candies in strawberry flavor
Country: France

Another one I seem to recall having in another box I reviewed, but I can’t seem to find the box it was in… except I got the apple flavor. Not overly chewy, but a little light on the strawberry flavor.
TASTE: 7/10

KitKat Chunky in White Chocolate
These Kit Kat Chunky Bars have a crisp wafer center covered in a thick layer of white chocolate. Makes a nice change from the original milk chocolate version and one to get the milky bar kid going.
Country: Bulgaria

This is just the bigger version of the 4-finger white chocolate bars we have here in America. Seriously, America needs to get these natively ASAP. These are SO much better than the normal 2 or 4 finger ones we have.
TASTE: 9.5/10

Solen Crazy
Solen Crazy Milk Chocolate Coated Wafer with Crispy Rice
Country: Turkey

Third repeat of the month. Reminded me of the American Hershey’s Krackle bars. I did see the wafer this month and I still could taste the crispy rice embedded into the chocolate. Speaking of the chocolate, it had a similar taste to Hershey chocolate, but creamier. I think the company added more milk/cream to the chocolate.
TASTE: 8.5/10

Gandour Unica
Creamy vanilla is sandwiched between two slightly salted wafer cookies and covered in a mild milk chocolate coating.
Country: Lebanon

Take a chocolate wafer cookie and cover it in chocolate. You now have this cookie. No other way to describe it. I didn’t taste any salt in this, though.
TASTE: 10/10

Dorina Keks
Rich and boldly delicious Kras quality milk chocolate filled with wholesomely sweet biscuit cookies.
Country: Croatia

This was the odd one of the bunch. The chocolate had a strange taste to it. The biscuit pieces were good, but the strange chocolate taste ruined the entire thing for me.
TASTE: 3/10

Only problem I see disabled people having with this (minus any allergies) is opening the packages and chewing the chewy candies thoroughly. If you can eat snacks, you'll be fine.

This is available from MunchPak.com starting at $9.95. These come in 3 sizes; MunchPak Mini (5-6 Snacks), MunchPak Original (10+ Snacks) and MunchPak Family Pak (20+ Snacks), and you can have it delivered weekly, bi-monthy or monthly. As I said, Mama Melissa subscribed to the FamilyPak, delivered monthly.

Love this service! It's great to get snacks from around the world without leaving your house!
