Belvoir Fruit Farms Drinks

Belvoir Fruit Farms Drinks

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
About Belvoir Fruits:
Belvoir Fruit Farms nestles deep in the English countryside in the idyllic Vale of Belvoir. We’ve been making cordials here for nearly 30 years, pressing fresh fruit and infusing flowers to mix with the famous Belvoir spring water.

Renowned for our elderflower drinks, we still use the same elderflower recipe developed by co-founder Mary Manners all those years ago. Originally, all the elderflowers were handpicked from bushes growing around Lord and Lady John Manners’ garden. The whole family helped to make the first batch of elderflower cordial, chopping the lemons and stirring the syrup. Lord John then popped the 88 cases of drinks into the back of his car and went round local farm shops, persuading the owners to buy a bottle here and there.

Today, demand is so high that Belvoir calls on the local community to help with the harvest, picking flowers from our own orchards and from hedgerows in the surrounding countryside.

To achieve the unique taste of Belvoir’s elderflower products, it’s essential to use nothing but fresh flowers. Peverel Manners, Lord John’s son, says: “The secret of a really good elderflower cordial is to use masses of flowers that have been picked in the sunshine when they’re warm and heavy with yellow pollen, then get them into the vat within three hours. This gives the drink its delicate floral taste.”

Over the years, the company has expanded its beverage range to include a wide range of flavours and the brand now produces more than 40 products, many of which have won multiple awards. Belvoir Fruit Farms is still owned and run by the Manners family.
Okay, so going into this (and it’s COMPLETELY my fault on this), I had NO clue these drinks were alcoholic mixers. The drinks themselves are not alcoholic, but they are intended to be mixed with alcohol. I tend to stay away from alcohol for personal reasons, so I tried these straight.

Most of the recipes included were for alcoholic cocktails. Since my household are not HUGE drinkers (the heaviest I’m drinking is a wine cooler or a malt beverage like Smirnoff Ice, the heaviest Mama Melissa and her father drink is beer) the majority of the drink recipes included were lost on us.

^^What I received^^

Let's look at the drinks I received.

ORGANIC ELDERFLOWER LEMONADE
The summery flavor of blooms
Made with love at the Belvoir Farm with hand-picked fresh Organic Elderflowers, fresh Organic lemon juice and Belvoir sparkling spring water
Experience a floral, fragrant and subtle taste in a beautiful handcrafted glass bottle
Gluten Free, GMO-Free and Vegan
No added flavors, no artificial colors, no sweeteners or preservatives

This wasn’t too bad, but the Elderflowers gave it a seemingly bitter taste. I didn’t taste too much lemon flavor in this.
TASTE: 5/10

ORGANIC GINGER BEER LEMONADE
A Memorable Fiery Punch
Made with love at the Belvoir Farm with handfuls of fresh Organic Ginger root, fresh Organic lemon juice and Belvoir sparkling spring water
Feel the real spicy and zesty taste of Ginger
Drink chilled or mix with alcohol to create a truly memorable Moscow Mule or a lovely Bourbon cocktail
Gluten Free, GMO-Free and Vegan
No added flavors, no artificial colors, no sweeteners or preservatives

This was my ‘favorite’ of the bunch, and by ‘favorite,’ I mean the one I could stomach the most of. It didn’t taste as bitter as the others, and the ginger gave it a nice ‘kick.’ I ended up drinking a LOT of this when I started feeling a cold coming on, and the ginger made me sweat out the symptoms.
TASTE: 8/10

ELDERFLOWER AND ROSE LEMONADE
A subtle taste of Rose
Made with love at the Belvoir Farm with hand-picked fresh Elderflowers, fresh lemon juice, Belvoir sparkling spring water and a hint of Rose petal extract
Experience a delicate, scented and refreshing taste in a beautiful handcrafted glass bottle
Gluten Free, GMO-Free and Vegan
No added flavors, no artificial colors, no sweeteners or preservatives

I have NO clue what roses taste like, since I don’t make it a habit to eat roses. However, I tasted ZERO lemon flavor in this. It was like I was drinking the water from a bouquet vase. This was my least favorite.
TASTE: 2/10

LIME AND LEMONGRASS LEMONADE
Lemon Love
Made with love at the Belvoir Farm with an aromatic blend of real pressed lime juice, extract of freshly infused lemongrass and Belvoir sparkling spring water
Experience a wonderful and refreshing citrusy sensation in a beautiful handcrafted glass bottle
Gluten Free, GMO-Free and Vegan
No added flavors, no artificial colors, no sweeteners or preservatives

This was like drinking a unsweetened Sprite or 7-Up… I don’t even mean the diet versions. I mean, take ANY and ALL sweeteners out of the drink. This was my second favorite, but it was still too bitter for me.
TASTE: 6/10

There is one non-alcoholic drink I wanted to try over the holidays, but I wasn’t 100% sure how to puree a peach by hand, or if it’s even possible.

ELDERFLOWER AND ROSE BELLINI
½ peach puree
1 oz peach juice
4 oz Belvoir Elderflower & Rose

Fill a champagne glass with the peach puree and peach juice, then top with chilled Belvoir Elderflower & Rose

The main problem I see disabled people having with these drinks is they are in glass bottles. If these are dropped, they will be shattered. Otherwise, if you don’t mind bitter drinks, I see no problem.

FINAL THOUGHTS
Not bad if you're an alcohol drinker... Sadly, I'm not
