I Heart Keenwah is a quinoa company, dedicated to bringing delicious snacks and pantry staples to the market. Non-GMO, gluten-free and vegan-friendly too!I had never heard of quinoa before this, much less knew how to pronounce it. I had to go Facebook and ask my friends, was it pronounced Quinn-NO-ah (the same syllabic emphasis as granola) or quinno-AH (the emphasis on the last syllable)?
Turns out it was neither; it's pronounced just as the bag says; Keen-wah.
So, What Is Quinoa? This protein-packed grain looks a bit like couscous, is as versatile as rice, and tastes delicious on its own or in these quinoa snacks.
Let's have a look at what I was sent.
^^What I received^^
Chocolate Sea Salt
Almonds + rich dark chocolate + sea salt = let's get it on. One taste of this bad boy and you're going to be begging for more. Rawr!
Not entirely sure why, but the sea salt didn’t blend with the chocolate all that well. Almost tasted like someone salted the chocolate TOO much. I was pleasantly surprised that I really couldn’t taste the DARK chocolate in this. HUGE plus for me. Has a nice bit of a crunch for me as well.
The sweet tart of cranberries combined with the smooth cashew flavor will have your taste buds asking for more. Tart never tasted this good.
Very sweet, but in a good way. I love cranberries, so this was a no-brainer for me to like. Just wished there was more cashew flavor in it.
Just like your childhood cheese puffs but all grown up: protein packed and classy. Aged cheddar with a hint of peppercorn?!
I wouldn’t really say these were ‘Just like your childhood cheese puffs but all grown up,’ because they really weren’t. These had plenty of cheddar taste to them, but they were very crunchy and hard on my teeth. I ended up having to soften them with my saliva for a good 5 to 10 minutes if I wanted to eat them without hurting my oral issues or the roof of my mouth. That didn’t really take away from the taste though.
Herbs de Provence
Snack puff take me away... to the french countryside scented with fresh garden herbs, lush with protein-packed quinoa.
Almost as hard as a crouton, with no real flavor to them. Has a LOT of herbs and spices in it (Sea Salt, Thyme, Rosemary, Basil, Marjoram, Parsley, Black Pepper, Oregano, Dehydrated Garlic and Lavender), but the taste just fell flat for me to eat them straight. I think these would taste better if tossed into a bowl of tomato (or at least a cream-style) soup.
I see disabled people having trouble with the hardness of the quinoa puffs. They both were VERY crunchy and drove my oral issues through the roof more than once. If you have trouble chewing crunchy snacks, you may want to avoid the puffs.
This is available from https://shop.iheartkeenwah.com/ starting at $3.49.
Very yummy snacks that are good for you
